We've now come to the point where we are ready start to edit the film for real. The story line is locked down for now and the work on "making it look good" begins. Of course this is not a step by step process and i’m sure the final arc will be quite different from what we have now. Also, our producers screened the film for the first time and sent over a stack of notes. If you don’t care about workflows or proxies or anything like that, you can leave this post now with the satisfaction of knowing that we are still working hard in our basement.
Up to this point we have been editing with the RED (_M) proxies and that works great for basic, one track things. But as soon as you want to use a cut away or do a transition or anything like that it looks more like bad stop-motion than anything else. So for this part of the process we are making a "real" offline with ProRes LT proxies that will later be reconnected with the R3D files when grading the final film. This is the first time we use this workflow but hopefully it works :)
